Despite most places starting to limit customers and people in their business establishments due to COVID-19, this wasn't the case for Slap's, as there was a healthy line out the door 15 minutes before they even opened. With Slap's being one of Kansas City's premier BBQ joints, this was almost expected.

Slap's, then known as Squeal Like a Pig BBQ, was founded in 2013 by Joe and Mike Pearce. After years of experience with BBQ, the brothers were able to take their talents to Destination America's BBQ Pitmaster's competition where they placed highly out of many BBQ places in the country. After opening Slap's in 2014 with a couple hundred pounds of meat a day, they consistently sold out daily, and still do to this day.

Thankfully, we were pretty much in the front of the line!
